Unique is the word that visitors use to describe the style of beads I created for this collection. I love hearing “I’ve never seen beads like this before.”
The flameworked method of glass bead making can be explained as winding molten glass around a steel mandrel. For the most distinctive beads I encase transparent coloured glass and fine silver, with clear glass. I love the optical effects of the way the silver and colour elements refract through the clear glass.
For the candy beads, I embellish the surface of the clear bead with shards of intensely coloured glass. These beads appear hollow.
All of the lampwork beads are heat hardened by annealing them. They are tough like marbles.
These beads are exclusive to the jewellery of the Artisan Collection. I combine these 2 bead designs with Argentium® sterling silver, using forging, sawing, soldering and polishing techniques for the metalwork, to make clean, simple jewellery.
