In the Fall, Caroline took a rug hooking workshop with Mary Ploughman Jones, and now she’s hooked. One morning a week, Caroline and I get together with our friend Cindy, and work on our rug hooking projects. Cindy’s struggling to finish a very large rug in colours that she does not love (lesson to everyone!). I’m working on the third in a series of 4 chair pads that were designed by Joan Kays. Caroline is eagerly awaiting our road trip to Amherst this Tuesday. We’re going to Deanne Fitzpatrick’s to buy the wool for her next project. WHAT will she come home with?!!!

Caroline will have a show of quilted textile art, at The GUILD, in August. I can’t wait!

The artist, photographing inspirations.

I peeled off the tape and folded back the paper, very slowly, as usual, because I really enjoy savouring the moment of suspense.

When I finally revealed the contents I turned to my daughter and exclaimed (I really did) “Did you make this?!?!!!” She replied “NO! Dad did!” I turned to Mark and he confirmed that he had, indeed, knitted me a scarf for Christmas! I cried, and I cried. I was so touched.

Mark and Megan had been spending an awful lot of time in the tv room, with the door closed, the week before Christmas. I had felt a bit left out.

Megan sat with Mark and taught him how to knit. He started on smaller needles, but quickly switched to very large ones. She says he’s a great student, and that he insisted that the scarf have tassels.

What a gorgeous kitchen! The cabinets are wood, the colour of bleached driftwood, and the countertop is granite, the colour of the red Island clay.

I call this colour mermaid and it’s perfect for their kitchen that looks out over the dunes and then the ocean.

This snow was big and light and fluffy, and not a breath of wind.

I was inspired to take the beads outside and see how they looked in the winter wonderland. Beautiful, I must say!
